External speakers

Hey everyone! I have had a model 3 for for a few years and I just picked up my wife’s model Y today. My 3 didnt have external speakers but I expected my wife’s car to have them. Did they stop installing them or something?

From what I see on mine, I didn't see a mesh underneath the car. However, the speaker is there and it for sure plays the UFO sound They may have modified it. But, no boombox update.
