I took delivery in Sept. 2014 and am looking to upgrade to a 2017 90D with v2 autopilot.

I received a trade-in quote from Tesla but want to see I I can do a little better via private sale even considering sale tax benefit for trade-ins.

Features: 85kWh battery, RWD, black paint, black interior. Panorama roof, 19" base Wheels, 19" Michelin Primacy Tires, piano black accents, Tech Package, Standard Suspension, Fog lamps, Parking Sensors, Parcel Shelf, Free Supercharging for Life, Single Onboard Charger.

Installed AbstractOcean LED replacement lighting in Frunk and Trunk for improved visibility.

90% charge is 230 miles.

Mileage: ~66,500

Excellent Condition, 1 Owner, Garaged when not driven. Located in Fairfield County, Connecticut.

p.s. - I could not change the title in the original thread so I created a new one.

Since others have PM'd asking what Tesla offered, it was a bit lower than I had hoped at $42,200. I know my mileage is high for just over two years but with 8yr unlimited warranty (just under 6 yrs left) on battery and motor, I had hoped residual value would have held up better.

I've been told that the trade-in falls off a cliff over 60k miles because they don't certify cars past that spot and often sell them to wholesalers. If you do trade in CT the net of tax is closer to $45k and there is no hassle and they do all the registration transfer for you - was worth it for me when I purchased vs the hassle to go private for maybe another $1k because everyone looking wants a deal too.

Agreed - $45k is the equivalent of their trade-in quote after considering sales tax. I did a private sale when I purchased my first Model S. I figured I'd see if someone was interested in getting into an 85 Model S that didn't want to pay the price of new.
