always take a peek at air traffic before flying, too, just to be safe, and there was nothing anywhere near my low altitude flight at the time. I've got hundreds of hours in on the Phantom 2, and hundreds more in on self-piloted ultralight craft... so, I know what I'm doing. :)

What app or data source do you use to see other possible low altitude aircraft? Ive never seen a data source that shows low altitude VFR traffic, especially one that doesn't have a ton of latency.
 
FAA unveils drone rules; Obama orders policy for agencies

The new FAA proposal doesn't apply to hobbyists. The agency already issued a policy for recreational use, with rules calling for flying less than 400 feet high and within sight of the operator, while keeping clear of other aircraft and notifying air-traffic control when flying within 5 miles of an airport.
