Just wondering, have any of you gone on a factory tour before/after taking delivery of your car in Hawaii? I will be in San Jose for the next week and reached out to my Delivery Specialist Ciaran to see if I could join in on a tour or at least visit the factory. Do you folks think they would let me?

Did a tour last Monday. Arranged about a month ago. They normally have tours at 11AM and 3PM Monday - Saturday. Great experience.

Malnodnarb, were you able to successful schedule the tour? I'm planning a trip and hope to do the same. I sent a couple of emails and hope to hear back from them.

Finally made it there! Was great! Also bought Tesla t-shirts sans shipping.

Been on two tours - once in October 2011 (before production) and once this past July. Things have changed a lot between the two times I visited. FYI, they usually don't let kids on the tour, but somehow my two boys were able to go and they loved it. When I went this past July they were getting ready to release the car to Europe so there were a lot of Signature Red cars.

This is my next vacation destination, lol! No, really

Mine too, but I have to use up my Las Vegas Timeshare before new year. I wish I could take my car on vacation, then I could take the tour and drive to LV.

Enjoy DSmith! It is a great tour. Be sure to look for Elon's desk!

Just got back from the tour. it was a bit chilly but my new tesla jacket and Tesla Track Jacket kept me warm on those cold nights. (37F at one point).
When I went out to the obligatory tourist destinations, everyone kept asking if I worked for Tesla. one museum I went to waived the $30 entrance fee. was it the jacket or was it my winning personality?

I did see Elon's desk in the middle of the "Bullpen" unfortunately at the end of the week he goes to SpaceX. He is at Tesla in the beginning of the week.
We could see machinery working at a distance but when we got closer to each of the stations they all were going on break.

I had a BMW rental car with the auto-engine shutoff when you stopped at a light. (It would start back up when you pressed the gas.) I parked at the wharf in San Francisco for about 5 hours. (Tachometer said 0) When I got back there was a note from security telling me they shut my engine off. Huh? you need to shut the engine off when you get out of the car? And their impressive 4 inch screen that displays the radio dial (and a warning to not drive distracted... every time you start the car.)
I don't know how many times I hit the windshield wipers trying to go into drive/reverse/park. If I managed to remember to hit the "joystick" in the center console I would have to hit it a couple of times for drive/reverse/park, their park button on top is recessed and hard to push, shifting into drive (pull back) or reverse (push forward) requires you to press the side button.
I'm glad I am back and can drive a car where the controls makes sense.
