Factory Tow Package Question

I had the factory tow hitch installed after delivery. Should I be seeing an option to enable trailer mode in my driving options menu? I just used it for the first time today for a bike rack and got a bunch of squiggly red lines in the car car animation.

If you have the factory tow package you should have an option to enable trailer mode in the vehicle settings. If it is missing, you should take it back and have Tesla enable it as the factory tow package includes a hardware and software component.

However, you would not use trailer mode with a bike rack attached. Trailer mode is for a trailer with a brake controller.

You will always see the red lines with a bike rack attached.

Thanks. Just making sure. Someday I will tow a trailer and it would be nice to have the option readily available.

While you’re back at the service center make sure they also GIVE you the wire harness for the brake controller.

It is not included by default but the owners manual states that it should be. It’s the same wire harness used for the MX and is CRITICAL if you are towing a trailer with brakes.
