Falcon door scraping doorwell

I just got a loaner MX recently. On the passenger side, there was a quarter-sized bare metal spot on the rear section of the doorwell accompanied by surrounding paint.

Was this caused by a misaligned falcon door that continuously scraped this spot every time it closed, grinding it down to the bare aluminum?

If it is, how common is this problem? This seems quite severe if it eventually turns into a hole.

Pretty common. As in, every X ever made.

At least all the X's I've owned or had as a loaner showed this.

I wouldn't sweat it. Design flaw. This will not be what destroys your car.
Mine did that but never broke through the paint. Just left a shiny spot in the same area.

And you are correct. They all do this.

The doors can be adjusted to reduce the friction. However (1) the adjustments are difficult, finicky, and time consuming. Service personnel are reluctant to do the work. (2) Fixing the friction point at one spot may create a friction point at another spot.
