False interior and exterior temp readings

This week my 2023 Model Y displaced totally high temp readings on both interior and exterior. At 11:14 pm on a cool evening where actual temps was about 75 degrees the interior temp displayed in 124 deg and Exterior displayed in 162 deg.

I placed a service visit and they moved it to mobile service next week.

The high temps are causing issues with range where efficiency. I belive it’s because the AC is trying to cool a false hot cabin. Our normal 125 mile trip between our cabin and house usually takes 40% of battery SOC and 275 KWh/mile. Today it was running 450 kWh/mile and projected 20% of battery remaining vs the typical 45% remaining. I stopped at a Supercharger mid way to add 20% SOC.

Once I took AC off AUTO and manually lowered fan speed to speed #3 efficiency returned.

Has anyone experienced this issue and if so what was the solution?

UPDATE,

Tesla Mobile Service came out today with the intention of replacing the Outside Air Temp Sensor. When he pulled the Front Truck Tub the cause was not a bad sensor but a rodent had chewed through the wire harness that feeds the temp sensor. there was also a nest in there.

He was kind enough to do a temp repair by splicing the wires with WAGO that I had. He never saw WAGOS before so I gave him several dozen from my stash for him to use in the future. Temps now work fine. He was going to get me a quote on a new harness, but he expects it to be not cheap. He and I both agree that I should do a permanent repair the harness by adding some wire, solder and heat shrink and self repair the harness. That is something I am more than capable of doing with my years experience in Avionics, originally in the military and working as a tech at Bendix Avionics before I got a real job.

I recently had to troubleshoot and repair our Kawasaki FXT Mule Side by Side where rodents had chewed through the harness on its fuel pump also at our remote cabin. Now I've got to find some rodent repellant that works.

Another Update:

I did a semi permanent repair last week soldering and heat shrinking the splices. It worked but I’m too anal and wanted a new harness.

Yesterday I took it into Tesla to replace the harness at the quoted price. I asked that they return my functional old harness so I could keep it as a spare since it’s sliced but fully functional

Whe I picked it up the car the old harness wasn’t in the car so I asked for it. A few minutes later the service guy returned with my old harness. They had hacked every connector off and said they save the connectors for future repairs. I was furious. He went into the back and handed me a bunch of cut off connectors. WTH? I told him they ruined MY fully functioning harness that I wanted to keep as a spare. I gave them 2 choices.
1- provide another new harness as a spare and I would give them the hacked harness in return.
2- no bill the part cost on the service visit but only bill me for labor. If they didn’t agree and they charged me I would dispute the credit card charge.

Today I got a message. They decided to not bill me anything for parts or labor to install the new harness.

That’s what you get for asking them to do something they’re not used to doing! You had every right to request the old harness but I’m sure the guy doing the repair didn’t realize or think of it and automatically cut off the connectors and tossed the wires. Glad they did the right thing for you.

I offered to pay for the labor They sent me a text that they didn’t bill me for the repair at all.

I used the brand new one in Sarasota FL, at the University Town Center.
Sorry to hear of your difficulties, but it seems that the Sarasota Tesla Service Center did the right thing.

We just used that Service Center with a great outcome. A few weeks ago, I saw a notice on my cell phone that our 12v battery needed to be replaced. I tried to find the notice in my texts or the Tesla app on the phone, but couldn’t find it. We were out of town, so I went into a Tesla Service Center near where we were and they did confirm that I needed a new 12v battery and informed me that it couldn’t wait for our return to Sarasota.

I had booked a Mobile Service appointment. It scheduled it for the earliest time available, about 3 weeks later. Then I received a message through the Tesla app saying they saw the Mobile Service appointment and our battery replacement couldn’t wait 3 weeks, so they would be there the next day. We were still out of town, but they said they just needed access to the vehicle. They didn’t need us to be there nor our keycard.

The app also noted our car’s mileage and recommended a tire rotation. They asked whether we wanted to include that to our Mobile Service appointment. I approved the additional work.

The next day, they arrived, got to the vehicle and changed the battery and rotated the tires, all while we were away. They put our car cover back on, plugged the car back in and messaged me when it was all done.

Great service!

I've had 4 experiences with the Sarasota Service Center. 3 were mobile service visits in my driveway and the one that started this thread. Every experience with Sarasota has been exceptional.

1- First experience was condensation in tail light. They requested pictures and 2 days later they came to my house and replaced the taillight. After he was done with my car I asked if he could look at my wifes Model Y. An interior panel was misaligned. Without hesitation he removed the panel and replaced a few "clips" that fixed the misalignment.

2- $65 tire rotation in my driveway on my MY

3- $65 tire rotation in my driveway on my wife's MY

4- Initial visit to replace oat sensor when he discovered rodent damage to the harness. He did a temp repair using some WAGOs I provided. I gave him a hand full of new WAGOs for his tool kit for temp repairs elsewhere if needed. Then he suggested he would do a solder and heat shrink repair if it were his car. I did that but being anal I wanted the harness to be replaced and was willing to pay for it and keep the old harness as a spare.
