Family man finding the S a little too tight. Is the X significantly better with kids?

When I purchased my S in 2016 my family was only two. Now its four, and the S is tough with two baby seats. Really only good for local drives and even then its tight getting the kids in and out. We have a Highlander so I we don't really NEED two SUV's but the falcon wing doors seem like game-changers when you have kids.

Has anyone gone from the S to the X? Was it worth it?
Is it significantly better if you have kids?

My 5 seater X has WAY more space than my wife's Cayenne, if that helps (not sure it does). Could easily fit two baby seats in the back row.

The difference is HUGE. It will change your life. If you have kids, it is THE Tesla to have.

I have a wife and 4 daughters (17, 14, 12, 11) I went from the S with the rear-facing jump seats to a seven-seat X as my kids all outgrew the rear-facing seats. I have to say it is WAY more room and comfort for road trips. We still have trunk space too with all the seats filled

Agreed with the above, and highly recommend the 6 seat X for 2 installed kid seats. The center passthrough is much easier access for the 3rd row when needed vs the bench tilting.

Parking is a little harder, as the X is both wider and longer than the S, but the interior is more spacious.

Agree that the 6 seater is a great choice with bigger families.

Kids can easily scramble into the way back as they get bigger.

I have an X , it has more room than the Chev Traverse which was huge 2 child seats in the back and they cant touch each other

Same situation as you with a family of 4. We had our model S for several years and were quickly outgrowing it. Sold the S and bought an X. Family is more comfortable and we all have more space. Went with the 6 seater

Model X is huge compared to the Model S. I can't speak the putting kids in it but the falcon wing doors allow great access. But I would suggest going and seeing one in person and test driving. Road trips for 2 adults and 2 dogs allow us plenty of room. Each do has their own kennel too.

A lot of it depends what you're used to and how much stuff you need to haul around. In Europe a Model 3 is a family car.

You might want to consider a Model Y once production comes back online.

I have an S and X. I have 2 kids in car seats. The X is much better with car seats as the falcon wing doors make it easy to put kids in. Also my older can get in and take care of himself like a minivan without me worrying about him dinging someone's door. Space is a bit bigger if you pack a lot of stuff on trips but it's not tremendously much more than the S. The 3rd row isn't much use unfortunately especially now it has no latch attachments.

Add the Rear Facing Seats or Trade for one with the RFS.

Also, there's the frunk if you can fold one up and keep the lid closed.

The X is much better for families than the S. We've had the X for a couple of years now with three young kids and three carseats. We put them all in the middle row. The FWDs make it so easy to get the kids in and out of the car and also buckle the kid in the middle car seat while standing outside of the car. The S feels like a downgrade compared to the X.

quickly discovered that the model S was too small for us. After 6 months of ownership, I sold the S and got the 6 seater X. Best decision yet. More headroom and more space for the kids to get around.

They released it 4 years ago. The X. The L edition is a great minivan to beat Lambos off the lights with.

Elon has kids. That transfered into some of the designs in the X.
