[Feature Request] Tesla feature request and bug tracking platform

To facilitate an organized and effective approach for Tesla feature requests and bug tracking, a centralized platform that encourages user participation and streamlines communication between users and the Tesla development team can be proposed. This platform would allow Tesla customers and enthusiasts to submit feature requests, report bugs, and provide feedback on existing features.

Key components of the proposed platform:

1. User-friendly interface: Develop a clean, intuitive, and easy-to-navigate interface that allows users to submit feature requests, report bugs, and browse existing submissions.

2. Categorization and tagging: Implement a system for categorizing and tagging submissions, making it easier for users and Tesla engineers to search and filter requests and bug reports.

3. Voting and prioritization: Enable users to upvote and downvote submissions, allowing the most popular and impactful feature requests and bug reports to rise to the top. This will help Tesla prioritize which issues to address based on community feedback.

4. Status updates and progress tracking: Provide a way for the Tesla development team to update the status of feature requests and bug reports, such as "under review," "in progress," or "completed." This will keep users informed about the progress of their submissions and maintain transparency.

5. Commenting and discussion: Allow users to comment on submissions, fostering discussions and collaboration within the community. This can lead to more refined feature requests and more effective bug reports.

6. Integration with Tesla development workflow: Ensure seamless integration with Tesla's existing development and project management tools to streamline the process of implementing user-requested features and addressing bug reports.

7. User authentication: Require users to authenticate with their Tesla account or create a dedicated account for the platform. This will help reduce spam and ensure that only genuine Tesla customers and enthusiasts contribute to the platform.

8. Moderation and guidelines: Establish community guidelines and a moderation system to maintain a positive and constructive environment for users to submit their feature requests and bug reports.

9. Notifications and alerts: Implement a notification system to alert users when there are updates to their submissions or when new submissions are added in their areas of interest.

10. Mobile and web accessibility: Ensure that the platform is accessible on both web and mobile devices, enabling users to submit and review feature requests and bug reports on the go.

By implementing this centralized platform, Tesla can better engage with its user community, gather valuable feedback, and continuously improve its products and services based on real-world user experiences and suggestions. This will ultimately lead to increased customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.

We could easily implement a Feature Request and Bug Reporting forums on TMC. This would include voting on the threads. Threads can then be sorted based on Vote number, or by other criteria such date and activity. We can use prefixes to indicate the status of the thread, and threads can also be filtered for by prefix. We have tags already as well for those looking to better categorize.

Other things we have:
  • Moderation and guidelines
  • Notifications and alerts
  • Mobile and web accessibility (we even have native apps for those who don't know)
  • Comments and discussion
What we can't do (unless Tesla wanted to collaborate with us) is official Tesla account authentication and integration with Tesla development workflow.

We would be happy to give some Tesla employees access to some of the editing tools so that they could change status of different threads. And of course we would welcome their participation.

If there is some support for doing this, then I could have this setup within a matter of hours.

We've added:

We may tweak them a bit in the coming days, but please post there if you have any features to request, or bugs to report. Once we have enough activity going on there, we'll reach out to Tesla to make sure they are aware of them.
