Feedback on Hankook 21s?

Ok, I'm sold on getting these 21" Hankook tires for my P85+ (I have bulges on two of the PS2s, and need to replace them before some long summer trips).

But I have some simple questions for people who know more about tires than I do:

1. In the "Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 vs Pilot Super Sport" thread, someone posted that I can mount the 245/35/21s on the rear 21x9" Turbine rims. I just want to confirm that's not a problem
2. Given #1, are there any serious downsides/tradeoffs, besides just having slightly narrower rear tires with possibly less grip?
3. Does the toe-in settings for the P85+ need to be adjusted if I don't have the stock 265s on the rears? If so, how do I find out the correct settings for alignment?
4. What happens if I rotate the rims front-to-back, but they all have the same size tire? Is that kosher? (i.e. 8.5" rims on the rear and 9" rims on the front)

many thanks!

Forgot to post, but over the weekend the roads were pretty slick. I took the car onto my deserted street and did some hard take offs and braking. Braking was excellent. Some slight sliding (not exactly fish-tailing) motion on takeoff, but that can be just as much the car as the tires.

I've been hearing a bit of humming lately, unsure if they're from the tires or just the rhythmic sound of my one wheel that's slightly bent. I'd guess the former though since it's been bent since before the winter. Overall, I dig them, and price overcomes any shortcomings

I sure would be interested in an update. My Conti's are about to be replaced and all in all based on how I drive I am NOT happy with the wear. I'll get around 17-18k. I drive to many miles to have to swap tires every 8 months.

I have a stagger setup with the Hankooks on my P85: 285/30/21 rear, 245/35/21 front. They are not the new 2's as I have had them for about 9 months. I don't put anywhere near as many miles on my car as you do but I think I have about 10k miles on this set. My Conti's on the OEM 21" rims lasted about 12k miles total. The Hankooks appear to be wearing much better. I can hardly notice a reduction in tread depth with 10k of almost all city driving.

If you are happy with the reduction in performance vs. the Conti's and want a longer tread life, I'm pretty sure these will be ideal for you. I plan to go to PSS with a 295/30/21 rear, 245/35/21 front setup when (if?) these Hankooks wear out. I went with these because they were cheap and available and I wanted to make sure the stagger setup worked properly before spending more on higher performance tires.

I have almost 13k on my OEM Continentals and it's time for a change. They have gotten really noisy over the past couple of months and the rears are down to 3/32 on the inside edge. I wanted to go with the Michelin PSS however it appears they are nationally back ordered until January. Anymore feedback on the Hankooks?

I've posted elsewhere on the forum but not this thread. I did get the Hankooks Ventus V12 evo2 installed on my P85+ -- same 245/35/19 size all around. I love them, absolutely great tire. I'm not a driving freak, but I can't tell any difference in handling from the staggared PS2s which were >$500 per tire. I think I have about 7k miles on them, and wear looks minimal. I'd have to measure them to see (which I can do later today or tomorrow).

Just this weekend, I was driving on a small road in Chester, NY and was showing off the MS to some friends -- 5 adults -- 4, shall we say "ample" males, and one petite female were in the car, so it was fully loaded. Having 21" Turbine rims, I usually pay strict attention to the road for potholes, but as my passengers were busy googling "animated gif porn" on the touchscreen, I didn't see a HUGE pothole in front of me, and hit it dead on with the right front wheel. CATHUNK! I knew right then and there my 21" turbine rim was likely dented. I cried a little inside. We arrived shortly at the restaurant, and had a nice dinner. On the drive back to their house, I didn't notice any vibrations. And when I drove home yesterday about 60 miles, I noticed a very small vibration first thing in the morning, but then it smoothed out in about 5 miles on the highway. So, I can only conclude that the Hankook tire took most of the brunt of the pothole and not the rim. I still have yet to do a visual inspection, but if the rim is dented, it's only dented a tiny bit, which I can probably get worked out with a rim specialist.

Also, until Friday, Hankook is offering an $80 mail in rebate for the Ventus V12 evo2s:

Oh, and another point of information, I like these Hankook tires so much, I'm getting a set of 19" Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2 all-season tires for winter. (they have a $60 rebate).

Thanks for the feedback. Do you see any difference in noise compared to the previous tires you had on?

Personally, I know I don't notice those things, so there might be a difference to some people, and if there is a difference, it's not enough for me to notice it or it's not enough for me to say "damn, these tires are loud!".

(I usually have the radio playing loud enough not to care about tire noise).

I think this is probably the best place to put this -- even though the thread is about the 21", I'll make a comment on the 19" Ventus S1.

I received a call from the service center, doing my "yearly" maintenance, who report that the Hankook 19" Ventus S1's are down to less than 2/32's in the rear and ~4/32's in the front. This is only after about ~15k miles or so. I put these tires into service in mid-October, 2013 (14,000 odo), took them off in March, 2014 (21,000 miles odo) in favor of the 21", and they went back on around Oct of 2014 (37,000 mi odo). The car now has ~45,000 mi. Tires were rotated at ~7.5k mi intervals.

I understand that treadwear numbers are a bit of a farce, but my latest set of 21" Continentals are faring better than these did.

I'm going to recommend against the Hankook tires in the future.

Anyone know where they are made? i.e. in China?
