Fiat 500e and Chevy Volt / Prius on Maui

Hi

Neither of these cars are present in Maui, HI and since we're planning to move there, we'd like to take them to the island with us to drive for less and be environmentally friendly.

Considering they're more complicated machines than an ICE Toyota Highlander, would anyone have any suggestions / opinions on taking these 2 cars to Maui? Any insight or comment counts!

I'm mostly afraid of electric issues that may arise in the future since there is NO mechanic (AFAIK) that would be able to handle them. Suspension, brakes, etc should be easy as well as engine work on the Hybrid. But should a high voltage item fail, how would I deal with that...?

There is a CJD/Ram/Fiat dealer on Maui. You should call them and see if they can work on it. This thread is also promising for out of state service, at least for recall and warranty work.

Used Fiat 500e electric cars outside California: is service an issue for buyers?

In that story there is a link to a list of official 500e service centers. Alas, neither of the Hawaii Fiat dealers are on that list.
