Fiat Chrysler CEO stepping down

Fiat Chrysler’s C.E.O. Steps Down Early

The same Sergio Marchionne who once said this of the 500e:

Fiat Chrysler CEO: Please don't buy Fiat 500e electric car

And, recently:

Marchionne: Electric cars not worth investment

Don’t know where the new CEO Mike Manley stands on EVs...

That waste of flesh is a perfect example of how NOT to run a company.

The purpose of a company should be a cooperative effort to bring a product to market that has the effect of improving society and to do that you need to be profitable. This ethos has been highjacked and molested over the years into, we like money... what crap can we con people into buying?

My former employer URENCO is a shining example of this...

From 'We will develop advanced technology to provide enrichment services for commercial nuclear power'

A perfect example of a typical Fortune 500 executive: someone who cut their teeth as a pencil pushing accountant, then tax specialist, then CFO, finally a CEO. All these companies that hire CFOs as their CEOs get someone who is good at numbers but has as much vision for the future as my dog (to my dog's credit, he is awfully cute and lovable). Every time I see a company with an ex-CFO as the CEO, I know that company is doomed to conventional thinking and has to be a horrible place to work because every decision is about the bottom line.

As long as Wall Street gets their way, we won't have visionaries like Elon Musk fighting their way for a better future. And the more Wall Street and the financial types criticize the people who have a vision for a better world, the more compelled I feel to support people like Elon Musk. I'm spending three times as much money as I've ever spent on a new car (Model X on order) because there is very little else us 'little people' can do to rise up against the Wall Street profiteers and make a convincing statement about changing our world.
