Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with any film/slide scanning services? I have ~20 slide carousels full of family photos my Dad took over the years that I'd like to convert to digital. It's way to big a job for DIY, so I'm looking to send it out.

West Coasting Imaging. I haven't used them for scans, but they are a go to source for all things imaging, printing, etc.

I recently sent a bunch of slides to Scan Cafe and was very happy with the result. I paid the slight uncharge for the higher resolution scans. They're not fast (because their scanning facilities are in India), but their tracking and communication is excellent.
