In my opinion: Do not pay before you take delivery. Once you pay all your leverage to get the car fixed (should there be any need to perform any fixes) evaporates.

Yeah...In TX, you have no choice but to pay first. They won’t deliver until payment is made, from what I’ve read.

TX purchases are weird, but based on the answers to my question in the MY area, TX buyers have indeed paid in full for their cars prior to delivery. I'm navigating this myself at the moment, as I am not comfortable handing ANYONE a check for close to $60k without even seeing the vehicle. My concern is that the delivery process will stop if they don't have the money in hand.

Yes just got the VIN a few hours ago and I’ve heard that they won’t even ship the car over until final payment.

Conflicting signals, for sure. I was told the same, then received a request to schedule my delivery date and time, which I did. Then I received a text from my delivery location, asking for proof of insurance, which I provided.
...no further request for payment of any kind...

I made final payment by check on day of delivery. They didn't cash the check until the 7-day return period (which apparently no longer exists) had passed.

The OP is in Texas, which has its own bizarre financial regulations when buying a Tesla.

Let's hope Texas changes its laws and allows manufacturers to sell cars directly to customers rather than forcing them through a dealer.

I guess Elon could use jobs at the Austin Gigafactory as a bargaining chip.
