After searching for a long time, I finally found a single-DIN Android car stereo with a screen that doesn't collide with the windshield wiper control stalk or block the HVAC controls or registers. The unit has a 6.2" floating screen, runs Android, has two rear USB ports, and accepts a SIM card so it can operate independently of a smartphone. Looks like you can use it with an iPhone with Z-Link. I was planning on using it with Android Auto, but since it has its own SIM card and runs Android, I don't really need to, I just run everything on the stereo directly.
Javier @ExecMotorwerkz installed it for me. He mounted the new microphone where the original one was, and found discreet placements for the unit's GPS and cellular antennas.
I really like how the screen fits inside and flush with the console above it.
