Firmware 8.1

My Homelink has worked about half the time for the last six months. I have reset/reprogrammed a few times with no improvement. Other cars are opening the door 100%.

Mine was 100% until .38 was installed at the service center a few weeks ago. Now works about 60% of the time.

I filed a bug report, but we all know those go into the ether :).

My HomeLink experience. I started with .38 a couple of weeks ago. I program the gate to the community which auto opens when I drive up. I programmed my 2 car garage and my wife's 1 car garage. My 2 car garage failed within the first few days a couple times. But since then it has not failed. The gate has never failed. I upgraded to .40 today.

The the firmware version format change again? Pattern was that if a new week then it was just
YYYY.WW.<generated 'hash'> then .# for a subsequent dot digit(s) on the same week
YYYY.WW.#.<generated 'hash'> but .40 started off with a .1 following it for the new week
YYYY.WW.1.<generated 'hash'>

17.28.103
17.28.4cf44833
17.38.4.be12575
17.38.f87c64d5
17.40.1.e29b97f

An extra level there usually indicates a patch level. So, if the development team has said "this is version 17.40" but they found a bug in the release, they'll call the patched version 17.40.1. I can't be certain that's what it means in this particular case, but I'm just throwing that out there.

TeslaFi.com reporting one XP100D with version 2017.41 c84dea9 installed overnight. Already? Time for wild speculation: They planned 2017.40 to be a wide release enabling AEB in HW2.5 and the other stuff, found a bug at the last minute and put in a short-term fix in 2017.40.1, but needed some more time to get a proper fix which is 2017.41. Oh, or maybe they're switching to a weekly release cadence? It will be a tick-tock cycle with each tick introducing a new user-visible feature and each tock being a refinement of the AP neural net! Call Electrek, sources say Tesla switching to weekly release cadence!

Don't want to jinx anything, but this update seems to have solved the range issue I was having with the garage door opener. I have a side mounted garage door opener and before this update I could open it from the inside but not the outside (even from right outside the garage door).

I do have a metal door and foil radiant barrier under the roof which I'm sure contributed to the issue but the remotes that came with the opener had no problem, nor did the HomeLink opener built into our other car. Now the MS can open the door from outside of the garage.

Nope. It’s a lottery system for the most part. The only exception is that bringing the car in for a service appointment will often trigger an update to a non-wide release. But there’s nothing abnormal about being on .34, that’s what the majority of users are on. There’s like a 2% deployment of 2017.4x so it’s simply not realistic to expect that to be your car or my car.

Things got worse for me. Since 40 I have had to reboot screen 3 times to get homelink working again.

Prior to 40 I had Energy Saver OFF. After 40 update it got turned back on. I wonder if this affects the HomeLink. I noticed my car would power on differently with Energy Saver ON. I have not tested enough yet after turning it OFF to see if it makes a difference. What is your setting for Energy Saver?

Got updated last night. This morning, Home Link failed to work at all, both automatically as I left the garage and manually as I pressed the button on screen. I have 3 doors programmed and all three didn't appear to work. The signal icon did not show up when pressing any of them. Luckily, my wife was heading out after me and was able to close the door for me.

I'll try rebooting before I head home for work, but this is going to be a big issue for me if it constantly fails. I really rely on the Home Link feature a lot.

No problems here after update. I set the distance to 20ft so it triggers closer than before. I used to miss probably 1 out of 10 opens before. I have had the “no transmit” problem happen a couple of times in the past when trying to close. Time will tell if it comes back for me.

I am having the same issues. Works 5-6 times and then the signal icon doesn't activate the homelink doesn't work. If you reboot, it seems to re-set and be good for another 5-6 times. I don't know if connected, but often notice that it doesn't work after I press the "not now" button on the wifi request page. Maybe a bug? By the way, does anyone know how to make the wifi request page stop showing up?

I sent Tesla an email and here's the useless scripted response:

Thank you for contacting Tesla Technical Support regarding your homelink issue. I apologize for the inconvenience this delayed response has caused. Did you already try to reboot your touchscreen after the firmware update? Below are the steps to reboot the touchscreen.

1) Locate the left and right scroll wheels on the steering wheel.

2) Press and hold the brake pedal along with the left and right scroll wheels until the 17” display turns off and the TESLA “T” logo appears.

3) Once the Tesla “T” logo appears, you can release the scroll wheel buttons.

4) Continue to wait a full minute until the vehicle finishes rebooting itself.

In case the reboot does not work, please try to reset the homelink location:

Controls> Settings> Homelink. Choose the name of the programmed device and touch Reset Location.

Please feel free to reach out to us via email or call us at 877-798-3752 in case the issue persists.
