Hi folks, I'd like to compile a list of firmware releases and their release dates, to the extent possible. I suppose it's not really important to know this much detail, as long as you have the latest. I'm still curious about when each version was released (especially since I missed a few). I suppose they also skipped some version numbers. I'll start by running through my logs and listing the earliest date seen for each firmware version that my vehicle (2.5) has seen installed. That doesn't make it a definitive release date listing, but at least I can know that each firmware was not released to the public any later than it appeared on my car. Roadster 2.x 2009/08/27 4.0.56 2009/08/27 4.0.59 2010/03/11 4.2.30 2010/05/17 4.2.35 2010/12/30 4.4.7 2011/02/16 4.5.1 2011/05/06 4.5.2 2011/06/28 4.6.3 2012/03/07 4.6.4 2012/07/27 4.6.5 2014/09/02 4.6.8 Roadster 1.5 2008/11/05 3.0.15 2008/11/24 3.0.34 2009/02/18 3.1.12 2009/03/14 3.2.16 2009/05/27 3.3.1 2009/10/12 3.4.13 2009/11/13 3.4.15 2010/10/07 3.5.18 2011/11/22 3.6.7 2013/12/10 3.6.12 I assume that I can come back to edit this initial posting as people provide information. Thanks.
Ok stupid question, forgive me just got the car. My model s downloads updates via internet. How do you obtain updates? Do you have to go to tesla service to get it? Is car monitored over Internet?
A couple of additional data points (1.5 Roadster): 22 Nov 2011 3.6.7 (earliest date I could find for this version, but I don't have a great deal of confidence in this date) 10 Jan 2014 3.6.12 (I believe this version had been available for about a month prior to this date)
No worries...the Roadster cannot get updates wirelessly like the Model S...a Ranger has to hook up a laptop to the car...I have had this done both in the field and at the service center...not sure if the 1.5 version can be "monitored" wirelessly, but you can set your GSM modem in the 2.0 & 2.5's to "off" / stay on for 6 hours after shut down / always stay on...
I believe 4.6.8 for the 2.x and 3.6.12 for the 1.5 was first released in Oct 2013. I got it installed in Dec 2013.
Here's the firmware breakdown from my 1.5: timestamp, firmware version 04/16/2009 02:03:25, 3.2.16 12 06/11/2009 17:59:50, 3.3.1 12 10/07/2010 23:59:30, 3.5.18 12 01/26/2012 19:39:54, 3.6.7 12 12/10/2013 16:52:04, 3.6.12 12 I grabbed this info by running the VMSparser command prompt utility with the -b option on the latest log file. The current firmware version is displayed in the VDS as well.
I can't speak with certainty for the 2.0 or 2.5. However, on the 1.5 you will see the firmware version in small and faint characters in the top right of the VDS above the Tesla logo in the first few seconds after power-on. Move the key from Off to Acc position, and look quickly.
Quick question... Is "4.6.8 33" the latest firmware version for the 2.0 Roadster? From my logs: 07/14/2014 07:26:14, 4.6.8 33 Thanks!
My 2.0 is at 4.6.8.40, as of 2/11/14 according to the logs. I've heard that the last change related to enablng 70A charging from feeds that were capable of more than that. Greg.
Do the roadster firmwares have 4 digits or only 3? I called my local service center and they said my car has the latest firmware. It shows 4.6.8 33. Is that older than 4.6.8.40 ? Or do the last numbers not matter?
I believe the 4th digit is not part of the firmware release version. I think it indicates a hardware version or a version of firmware at a different level
