Hello hope everyone is well and safe,
This forum has been a wealth of knowledge and I wanted to share some real-world, first 30days experience and notable call-outs from a Sydney M3LR owner - a family of 4 (2kids under 4yo)
- OD20/1 picked up 18/8 Chatswood financed at 2.99% ML White/White/19” ~80k drive away no stamp duty on invoice present
- M3LR comes with OEM carpets
- Ordered OEM floor mat covers was on the fence with 3rd party vs original - am extremely happy and probably the best investment to date
- Ordered EVNV white M3 seat covers (been so good that I’ve ordered another for passenger)
- Ordered EVNV boot full mat, chose this as it had the split between to access bottom (been happy)
- Ordered OEM rear and trunk boot liners (probably not needed but hey, got excited during the wait like everyone else)
- Ordered Gyeon Q2 leather shield, and spent first night coating all things white leather (and some black) with it - again another great investment (scuff marks can be easily removed with microfibre cloths)
- Did not buy any compartment organisers (I like the open space)
- Cup holder section can mark easily will be buying 3rd party inserts
- iPhone 13+ in Ottobox case doesn’t charge so have had to plug cable in
- Wife’s iPhone 11+ fits and wirelessly charges
- To open the frunk, press the word 'open' on the screen (lol)
- M3LR sound system is absolutely amazing, almost feels like there is a subwoofer
- Secured a phone holder window suction mount for work phone may look to buying the screen phone mount
- Ordered screen protector - Spidgen brand - haven't even installed yet but will soon
- Paid 5k to get call fully wrapped PPF gloss. Was in shop for 7 days and still under warranty (may post another thread about this experience)
- Kids booster seats installation has been great, used PRINCE Lionheart 2 seat saver and a thick towel for the baby seat using the seatbelt and isofix
- Back of passenger/driver seats have the plastic kick guard which has been great for toddlers
- DD Defect: bonnet panel gaps ~1.6mm (driver) vs ~3.0mm (passenger) - refer pics
- DD Defect: boot passenger side not seated properly and some noticeable missed paint under trim. Driver boot also suffering paint spots missed. Tesla quoted $230 repair for the bove points which I said I won’t be paying - TBC
- DD Defect: hairline scratch on white panel dash - Tesla quoted $200 which I mentioned I won’t be paying - TBC
- Above defects were lodged via the Tesla Service app the experience has been good so far
- Cruise control/autopilot with Autosteer craps itself when on a two-lane merging to one lane, not sure if this is standard?
- Car number plate bracket says TESLA but is the standard ALTREX brand protector (can be bought from SCA)
- Charging at home (house rental) 2A (10A socket) slowest possible charge, however plugging in at 6pm to 8am next day gets us ~150-170kms so still pretty good for our standard driving
- Have charged to 100% few occasions but will now keep at 80-90% when not needed
- Taken on one road trip to Wollongong using autopilot and it was brilliant
- Car is stupid fast already (previous S15, motorbike and boosted board owner) don’t think will be getting / needing Acceleration boost, hooning days are over.. or is it?
- Have not been bothered to actively ‘find’ EV charge stations when out, hand havn't experienced range anxiety yet
- Moved houses with it, boot space in M3 is a tight squeeze but can fit standard 40-50L boxes. Being careful with the leather, I placed towels and blankets when moving
- Center back seat seems uncomfortable for an adult
Am considering selling our LR Discovery 4 for the MY RWD (ready for pickup) - car will be for towing purposes (watch this space), previous car was a 2001 Civic 245kms which broke down on me 2 weeks before M3LR pickup
Overall have been extremely happy apart from the above defects, hopefully, all is resolved soon.
Thanks all for reading and good luck to all
-Dan
