Do you have a source that there is no regulatory approval in Germany? A lot of articles says there was.
No. That is what I remember reading but I have no way to verify it. Anyway the fact that they are not selling it is easily verified through the German pricelist that still lists only the Level 2 aids.
Not according to the information I’ve heard but of course I can be wrong. My understanding is German regulators are procrastinating.
Yea but what I am trying to understand is are they not selling it in Germany due to regulations, or the tech is not ready / they are not yet confident in it.
My understanding is there is dialogue between Volkswagen and regulators on this and that process is still incomplete. Basically it is politics, is my understanding.
Here is one article that describes the on-going homologation process for Level 3 in Germany regarding the Audi A8. They were still trying to define the actual process with the relevant committee in mid-2018 and were testing to meet those evolving homologation requirements. The timeline talks of spring 2019 for completion of that process in that article. Automatisiertes Fahren: Der schwierige Weg in den selbstfahrenden Stau - Golem.de
Thank you for sharing. Really appreciate it. It's too bad there has been no updates on this since that article in July 2018. Even if the homologation is still going... and even if it finishes in the coming months, I wonder how much longer it will take.
