Got my first Stone Chip right in the middle of my hood. I have standard white with no after market coatings. I picked up the touch up pen when I bought. Any tips for best results?
Clean area and wipe w isopropyl alcohol. Use as little paint as possible. Dry w hair dryer and add a little one more time.
1 shake pen well 2 purge the color first onto a clean surface (cardboard) 3 use a flat toothpick to apply color 4 be ready to remove paint immediately if not satisfactory 5 repeat until satisfied. This is permanent paint. 6 Xpel Ultimate will prevent more than 9 out of 10 of the small chips.
Apply two to three layers of touch up as above until the dried surface is above the rest of the painted surface. Let dry 24 hours minimum, then lightly use 1200, 2000, then 3000 grit sandpaper to finish to the existing surface. Use aggressive polish, then finishing polish (I like Mcguiars numbered finishing products) and wax to match the existing paint. http://www.wikihow.com/Touch-Up-Car-Paint
...or look into Dr. Color Chip. Nice system, good color match, fills chips well. You will likely need your 4 letter color code when ordering.
