So I'm half way on my commute this morning, cruising at 75 MPH on the freeway when my low pressure warning pops up. We've all seen it before and it's usually complaining about 1psi or something stupid. But this morning all the other tires showed 44 psi and I right rear showed 37. So I watched it. It dropped to 36 within a couple minutes. Hmmmm. Then it dropped another psi within another couple minutes. So, wow, this wasn't a slow leak. I immediately got on the map to find a close tire store. Another psi. Found one about 5 miles away and got off the freeway. Another psi. I watched it slowly drop as I made my way to the the store. At around 25 psi or so the message changed and recommended that I pull over immediately. I was close and just kept going. Finally arrived to a closed (it was 7:30am) shop with about 25 psi. Got out and looked at it. Didn't look flat, but was low. Leaned down to look and I could hear the air leaking! Used my finger and found the hole. They arrived at 8 am and patched it up. They didn't have hockey pucks, but there jack saddle was small and he was careful. $15 later, all is well. I really loved having warning that let me know to get off the freeway! I will put my pucks in the trunk for next time. The experience could have been WAY WORSE!

My pucks are in the trunk. I had a situation just the other day exactly like yours. I went to my local former gas station and he was hesitant to jack up the car until I told him I’ve got pucks. Screw in the drivers side front tire. He plugged the leak after removing the screw and it’s been fine since. I happen to have a service appointment this morning. We’ll see if they tell me that I need a new tire.

I carry one of the pucks I made in that little niche on the left side of the trunk. I bought 4 practice pucks, from Dicks, they weigh more and are salmon-colored, and drilled a ¾" hole half-way deep. Glued in a spare piece of PVC, then wrapped with hockey tape to create just enough friction that the pucks hang when inserted. The salmon-color hopefully reminds me not to leave them hanging when I'm done.

I had Mobile Service do a tire rotation a few weeks ago. I was surprised he didn't use pucks, just a standard floor jack. I ask about pucks and he said they're not necessary. I didn't think to ask if he actually had them in the truck or if they're for special situations. For rotation, he simply lifted the entire side of the car and swapped the tires on each side.

Back when I had my '11 Challenger R/T I had the same thing happen. With its used tires, before I got new ones, each one would lose a couple psi over time. So when one tire was only 2 psi low, I noticed right away, and I drove home, pulled a nail out of the tire, and plugged it before it had lost 10 psi. On its instrument panel, I was able to have the psi numbers come up all the time by default.

A friend of mine used these screwed into hockey pucks:

I rotated my tires with them and the worked really well. Enough friction that they'll stay in the jack point hole.

I don’t have pucks yet. Do I buy them on Amazon? Which ones do you recommend? Thx.
I got a set of 4 solid aluminum with delrin/poly washers (so there's no metal on metal contact) for $29 shipped off ebay. I'm sure the all plastic ones are fine but since the price for some of the plastic ones are more than aluminum, why not go for something you know isn't going to crack/break.

If it's not leaking you don't need a new tire.

My wife went through freeway flat tire today... Typical that I am currently on route to UK. Anyway. They coordinated a flat bed and 15 mile tow to local service center. Service center say it can't be plugged as the side wall is weak from a flat at freeway speeds. So now wife is paying close to $400 (18" MX4). Grrr. Wish I was there to support

Amazons got em j. Also what is the make of the front license plate holder that you ultimately got. Trying to remember, was it slip stream?

Hi h - I did purchase the Slipstream from thatgrin.com. and used it until a couple of days ago. I met with @TonyPham last Saturday and got his new revision of the Bandit with the new stainless steel rear braces and have been using it since then. Are you getting ready to put on your front plate ?

Ordered a set of 4 hockey puck / jack point adapters today. Supposed to get them next week sometime.
