it doesn't look like there is much for charging in Florence and I saw that there is a RV park near old town. Has anyone attempted to use them to charge? It would be nice to get a quick charge as you walk through town or get a bite to eat. Thanks for any input.

There is an Aerovironment charger at the Three Rivers Casino just east of Florence that I've used (back when it was free) that worked fine. Plugshare also states that there are two free plugs at Driftwood Shores Resort just north of town (folks are reporting 22 mph there). If you don't know about plugshare, it can be helpful!

I've never used the chargers at The Driftwood Shores but my dad has and they didn't work all that well. I guess they kept cutting out. That said, this experience was a few years ago and it's entirely possible that they've corrected the problem.

The Three Rivers Casino charger is great if you've got a chademo adaptor but you'll be limited to where you can get food because it's not an easy walk into town. I'm sure there's food in the casino though.

The 3 Rivers charger has 2 plugs...the Chademo and a J1772 plug (which I used on my S: PlugShare). I ate in the casino. There were several places to eat inside (Three Rivers Casino Resort - Restaurants).

Thanks guys. I was aware of those places from plug share. Just was hoping for a better place that I was not aware of closer to town. That being said, according to evtripplanner I should be able to drive from cottage grove to Florence and back without needing to charge.

I do the drive from Eugene to Florence and back on a single charge with leftover range. The road over there is pretty slow so you're not going to use as much as you would cruising up and down the freeway at 75mph. Also, if you find yourself worried about the last leg home there's always the Springfield Supercharger.

I visit Florence several times a year and I could see how a charger downtown would be very helpful. For such a small town with many small, local businesses in that area I think the chamber of commerce should look into this.

Another thought, if we can find someone with a connection, is to encourage one of the local businesses to ask Tesla for a Destination Charger (HPWC). I don't know if the city can do that but having one in that big parking lot next to the waterfront area would be a great idea. Maybe they could get a couple.
