Flow Insurance & Tracker

Hey all,

The cheapest insurance is £2,300 with Flow the next one is Direct Line at £3k for MY LR.

Flow has stated (part of Liverpool Victoria)

"The tracking device must be active when your car is parked. If not, we won’t pay for any loss or damage caused by theft or attempted theft."

I assume Tesla covers this, however, I may install an insurance-approved tracker if it gets stolen, I don't want any risk of losing my money. If Flow confirms via email Tesla is fine, I wont need it.

Can anyone recommend any companies in the UK that specialise in Tesla tracker? Or, anyone with Flow Insurance that have had approval on Tesla tracker?
Cheers

You really want to get some clear guidance from them on what tracker device they want. No sense fitting something they later decide wasn't good enough

The Tesla's tracking is based on a SIM card in the MCU, it can be removed with some effort, and also jammed with relatively little effort.

I found the whole tracker thing infuriating. When asking ,(top tip - phone up for quotes. Don't do online. Or at least do online then follow up with a call!!) I found most advisors were a bit vague. I'm sure it's just because they don't really know but the conspiracy theorist in me felt like by being vague they put the onus back on me)

The easiest was direct line who didn't even ask.

Interesting point on DL. I did a quote myself and got told they would not insure me. When Tesla sent me a text with a link to get a quote (which just takes you to DL) I got a quote and it was reasonable. Not as cheap as LV but pretty close).

In the end we selexted LV as we swapped cars on our policy. Meaning we weren't committing to a full year but only 3 months and fingers crossed insurance calms the heck down in that time.

I've dropped them an email and they have come back with the following

"Our underwriters have advised that if it allows them to be able to track the vehicle in real time in the event of theft then yes, this will be covered. "
Have you try configuring your policy quotes to start 20–26 days from now? You might find you don’t even need a tracker.
Yes my insurance is £5k without a tracker!

Ahhh I am so annoyed, yes they are so vague. What the hell does this even mean?!

You have to love insurers, only them could come up with such bullsh*t wording 🤣 yes, that's usually the definition of a tracker.
You could buy an AirTag for 29 quid and it would somewhat fulfil that description...

Hmm AirTag will not track in real time if an iPhone is not available.Does Tesla have real time tracking?

I am not sure that my 2022 MY has an alarm; the Security Alarm button is " blued" out.
Any advice gratefully received.
My understanding is it was standard in the UK, mine was blued out too, apparently this is due to Sentry being On. If you disable it you may be able to toggle the alarm off.
But M3 have a separate setting for Tilt/Intrusion sensor that we do not have on our MYs...

What bothers me is I've never been able to trigger it in a year of ownership, even when 'forgetting' pets in the car w/o dog mode for 20mins (in autumn weather).
So I too am wondering if it really works...

Precisely my concern from similar experience. Disabling Sentry makes no difference; it remains blued out.
