Isn't that back to the root of the discussion? Whether there is any difference between the motor units in the P vs the AWD?
They have since changed them as the part numbers are now different but all the 2018-early 2019 AWD model 3's shared the same hardware as P3D-.

Your correct, the one thread with motors in the catalog, there are some people stating that the new motor in the AWD could still potentially handle close to the P power.
I doubt the new models can given they finally changed the parts. My guess is it wasn't cost feasible to have 2 motors til now.
Just got my M3 AWD 7/19 build date back from a rear drive unit failure replacement. I don't know what I had originally, but it was replaced with a 990 motor per the service invoice.
That was something posted in the motors catalog and the registration in Europe for amount of power each car could handle. I posted it on page 55 from another member.
I did as suggested in the petition comment to lodge a ticket. This was the response I got:

Don't get too excited. There are a few (!) instances of customer service people either not in possesion of the facts, or getting out over their skis.
I hear you but a) we have never seen a response saying it’s coming and b) this was relatively specific in terms of upgrade path.
I’m bullish.

Our cars have been “upgraded” OTA. And Tesla has had OTA “upgrades” for the older model S to unlock more power. 100% possible. Just hope Tesla would be willing.
Been waiting for months trying to get my P3D- configuration. Hope this is real so that I can finally get it!
With the recent free update +50HP to the Model S, here's hoping that Elon/Telsa is feeling upgrade happy and will offer a paid AWD -> P upgrade.
