For mechanical reasons, do I have to replace tires in pairs or fours?

2016 Model X. One tire is damaged beyond repair. Other three tires have enough tread depth on them to last one or two more years so I don't desire to change the other tires unless I have to.

Can I replace just this ONE bad tire without damaging the drive/motor system(s)? I'm assuming I can change just the one tire since this isn't a conventional AWD "mechanical" type system where one tire spinning slightly slower than the others could cause mechanical problems with the AWD system.

I called the Tesla tech support line. She said she wasn't 100% sure but was pretty sure I could just change the one bad tire without damaging the AWD system. She tried to connect me with one the local Tesla Service Centers to get a more definitive answer, but the three service centers near me kinda suck as they don't answer the phone nor return voicemails or texts.

    Thanks!

Tesla Service center replaced 1 of my front tires on my Model X and said it was fine? Probably 10k on the set and only replaced the one...

That makes sense. I'm thinking with two separate electric motors, and the fact that the wheels are being driven by electric motors that it won't matter and one tire change is fine.
