that is WAY too low. I won't take anything less than kelly blue book values. Kelly Blue Book also doesn't take into account all the extras that I have added into the car too, which is well over 10K. I think I'm pricing this car pretty fairly.

Extended Warranty - 5K
Professional Warrantied Chrome Delete- 1k
Ceramic Tinting- 1K
Ceramic Coating- 2K
Frontal PPF- 3K

Tesla offered me 88.9k for a trade in, so I think this is fair considering everything it has. I just thought i’d try to sell it to someone who’d actually benefit from all the added stuff VS giving it to tesla and them stripping it of everything. i’m in no rush to sell, let alone sell to low ball offers when I have a valid offer from tesla
KBB won’t buy your car. This market is nuts. If you’d priced it fairly it would have sold. I think my offer is in the lower side of fair but still fair.

Good luck with sale. Let me know if you decide to actually sell it.

That is a very good offer from Tesla. I bought a 2021 model S refreshed from Tesla brand new. Drove for 2000 miles and wondering how much trade in worth...they gave me a trade-in quote $63k...crazy....

If that’s true, take the money and run.

I ran car dealerships for a couple of decades. Want to educate me on trade ins? Maybe the world has completely changed since I got out…

Then I don't need to educate you on how a trade-in works, but you missed my point.

Tesla makes money on TSLA value, so it is in Tesla's best interest to get cars sold. the number of cars sold in a quarter helps to drive their valuation in either direction. Therefore, what they offer you in a trade-in is irrelevant to what the open market will pay you for your car because their interest is in driving TSLA price up, nothing else.

The difference, obvious yet perhaps not enough, is that when you trade it into Tesla you will be leaving in another Tesla. If you were to sell the car to me, for example, you would be leaving with whatever amount we agreed upon in whatever form of a payment.

What would be more interesting, and likely prove my point, is to get a BUY offer from anyone of the places that will actually buy your car without forcing you in the driver's seat of something else. That's going to indicate something closer to the wholesale price of the car, as you know.

...then again, maybe Tesla has changed and they buy cars directly from the public without you leaving in another Tesla?

I’d be surprised if Tesla buys cars outright as it seems they’re not really interested in being in the used car business. That’s also backed up in my mind by the low prices they offer. I don’t see Tesla over allowing (assigning an artificially high trade in value to make the buyer feel good, while they realize a lower true cost and take the difference out in the backend from the purchase price of the car) on any car these days because they’re selling every car they can build without a problem.

I guess what I’m saying is if Tesla truly did offer him that, I’d expect that to be their true understanding of the value and other buyers that will buy outright would be in the same ballpark.

If you haven't sold the car yet, the price is too high. $94,900 is ridiculous for a 2017, if you sift through the FS threads, there have been refreshed Model S' going for around the same price and haven't sold.
Unfortunately all of your add-ons are worth $0 in the re-sale market, minus the FSD. If Tesla is offering $88,900 that's amazing, take it and don't look back. I have a feeling though they aren't offering that amount to you and definitely wouldn't be buying it outright.
As a price check in my area in CA they have a 2018 100D Ludicrous Performance with 19,000 miles for $92,600. It doesn't have FSD though. GLWS

Neither of us understand Tesla's used car pricing; however, we can both agree that trade-in value is not equal to retail value. That was my point all along.

The only thing of value is the warranty.
