For those that paid for 60kWh to 75 kWh upgrade, was it worth it?

The most I've seen is 86 kW @ 10% and perhaps 25 kW at 90+%.

I rarely see over 50 kW from 20-60%, which the SC says is normal. Typical is 39-40 kW over the 5 superchargers that I've visited.

I'm talking bout a 60 upgraded to 75. That said, the 75 upgrade is absolutely 100% essential for road trips. Superchargers are just not close enough for normal driving in the Pacific northwest.

Something is wrong with your car. My 60 -> 75 upgrade happily charges at 96kW for 20-30% of charge, then stabilizes around 80 and tapers off as normal.

I thought 75 had very slow charging after 90%. How long does it take to go from 90% to 100% at a supercharger?

I just completed a road trip from Vancouver to Calgary in my X60D. I didn't have any issues reaching each charger, but would have reduced my stress a bit if I had a X75D. Just wish the upgrade price was lower.

I upgraded and have no regrets - I charge 90% to 230+ on my now 75D, which was around 219 with my software limited 60D - my concern is that this 2k deal may go away - given Tesla, nothing stays constant... I like the look of 75D on my dash when it warms up every morning. I'd do it again...

One of my main reasons too. The deal might go away and you might never be able to upgrade your car in the future. Plus the balancing of modules which only happens above 94% SoC. These were my main reasons, but the extra range is helpful also..

I actually wish I *didn't* upgrade. Given the speed it takes to charge the top 10% or so, I almost never charge above 90%. I also have to "worry" about range charging and lose regent for the first few miles @ 100% with the 75D upgrade.

That said, I do like the new 75D badge ;-)

The upgrade to the 75 saved me ~1 hour or so on my trip to Yosemite this last weekend. With the 60 I needed one additional supercharger stop that was a bit out of the way. With the 75, I made it directly to the southern entrance Fish Camp charger without stopping.

Of course, on the way back, the crappy navigation cost me 1 1/2 hours by sending me to the Groveland charger via Marisposa, but still.

On this note, has anybody else, after doing this upgrade, seen less than the full advertised range? My car is a Dec 2016 S and both immediately after the upgrade and every time since it charges to 240 miles on the display, maximum. I brought it into the SC and they said the cells were likely imbalanced, but after more than a month of following their charging advice(running down to ~10% and charging back up to ~85-90%), there's been no change.

Mine was charging to about 238 in the first instance, then 239-240, now it's stable at 241. Did a couple 100% charges and that helped with balancing. Currently my cells are within 4mV of balance which is apparently a decent value. (this is at 13k miles, 2k miles after upgrade).

Ah, good to know I'm not alone. So we shouldn't expect it to actually charge to showing 249?

I did the upgrade at about 20k miles. My 100% is ~255 miles (out of the rated 259) and has been stable.

thats always how they want you to think....remember the "super charging is going away and never coming back "BS to get people to buy a car by jan 15th??? Well that was untrue. If very very very few to none would have jumped on at 2k it likely would have gone down1k or so-but too many jumped in so they figured why lower it.

It's just demand vs supply. At 9k, there was no demand. At 5k there was some demand. At 2k there was a lot of demand. No reason to lower. Whether demand was generated by fake promises or just the value of the upgrade is debatable. I'm sour about many things that are related to Tesla, but I'm certainly not about this one.
