Formula E have nearly decided to stick w/ a single battery manufacturer for all cars through 2025.

This is perhaps good for Formula E and the teams in terms of keeping from having the budget problems that have occasionally plagued Formula 1 and other racing series.
Is it missing an opportunity to help push the boundaries on better batteries? Would it be better perhaps to have 2 or 3 approved battery suppliers rather than one? They could even fix the max cost that suppliers could charge to help keep costs affordable for the smaller teams.
