Really not sure where to post this but felt the need to reach out in the hopes maybe the Model S owner who lost his Key Fob in Morgan Hill on Sunday 6/6 near the downtown parking garage will see this. My husband was downtown near the parking garage and recognized a Tesla fob just laying on one of the street benches. No idea if it was accidentally left on the bench or someone saw it on the ground and put it there to be seen. Anyway no one came by and my husband tried to see if he could locate the car in the garage possibly or on one of the side streets, but no luck. Figured the owner realized his fob was missing but used his phone app to drive home.
We called Gilroy Tesla who was about to close and asked if we brought it to them if they had a way to contact the owner. They are only Sales right now (BTW more test drive vehicles now at that location) but they said they couldn't help. Someone through Roadside Assistance said they thought a Tesla Service Center could help out so my husbnad had to be up in Sunnyvale today and stopped in to see if they could locate the owner. They said they couldn't. So we ended up calling the Morgan Hill police to see if they had a lost and found section and they said they did and we could drop it off there. Turned in tonight to them. So if you are the unfortunte Model S owner who's Fob and key ring it is, please contact the police department to retrieve it. Hopefully you remember and can describe what was on the key ring as well.
As Model S and Model 3 owners we were kind of surprised to hear that Tesla couldn't retrieve any information from the fob that would identify the owner through their database system. Oh well, we tried to return it so just hope it makes it home. Pricy item to loose too.
