We had the honor to work on an brand new Black Tesla Model X Founder Edition over the past week or so.

The following was installed at our XPEL Austin shop:

XPEL ULTIMATE paint protection film:
Full hood, full front fenders, front bumper, side mirrors, full doors, rocker panels, a-pillars, rear quarters and rear lift gate. Nearly every painted surface was protected with our XPEL ULTIMATE pre-cut kits. Our pre-cut kits allow for wrapped edges, so where possible the kit was wrapped.

XPEL ULTIMATE has a 10-year warranty that covers, yellowing, staining, cracking, blistering and delaminating.

Now for the best part!

A finished complete shot outside of our shop, the new Model X looks great!

Looks great!

I'd also like to hear your take on wrapping the seat backs.

Thanks!

Thanks! We are in the process of getting the patterns for the seat backs, we only had so much time with this specific Model X. It is in the works though

Just curious...Is the color of this Model X solid black or obsidian black?

Its a founders edition, but other than that I did not look. I will see if we have the information

Thanks for posting the pictures. I'm considering having Ultimate XPEL done on mine. I'm also thinking of using the Stealth XPEL film on the shiny seat backs to prevent scratches and scuffing there. Is there a recommended period of time you need to wait after taking delivery of the factory car, for gassing to take place (before applying the XPEL film)? Do you recommend the Service Center not wax and buff the car before having the film applied?

No problem! STEALTH does look amazing, so that is an option. There should be no outgassing from a OEM manufacturer as they bake there paint. The cars should be ready to go from Tesla, Porsche, etc. Before installation the installer has to clay bar and remove any contaminants on the paint, so yes if they can avoid the "dealer prep" as in waxing and buffing. Either way the installer will have to do a full wipe down and clay to ensure the paint is clean and ready for clear bra installation.

How much did it cost to do this job? Was it a complete protection, as in, were all external panels protected, or only specific ones?

Yes, complete protection, every painted panel (and the headlights) had XPEL ULTIMATE applied on the exterior. The only area's not protected would be the glass. Pricing varies on area, skill and market. Full wraps are typically between 4-8k depending on the vehicle. Your best best is to call a local installer and find a installer and price that works in your budget. To find an installer click: XPEL LOCATOR
