Most gas stations that charge will in fact turn on the air pump for you if you ask nicely.

Just on principle I prefer to be a customer. If I go into a coffee shop or gas station or whatever just to use their washroom I'll generally buy some tea or a cookie or something. I don't like being a freeloader.

I have a Black & Decker Air Station in the "basement" in the back of the Model X. They are great. They are convenient. They are reliable.

I use Costco's air supply system. I buy stuff at Costco; haven't bought gas there in over 4 years.

I just go to the SC 3/4 mile from my house and they fill them up. If I am on a road trip I stop at one of those disgusting places that pumps this pricey, weird smelling liquid into your car to power it.

The best thing to do is to buy a portable tire compressor and keep it in the car. Not only will it help you if your tires go flat, it also makes it super convenient to top off the tires. Tesla sells one for 50 bucks. Amazon has cheaper ones.

Here is what Tesla sells and I use
    Tesla — Tire Repair Kit

It's really nice to fill the tires in the warmth of your garage. The pressure drops right as winter is approaching and your digits are too cold to work properly outside at a gas station anyway.

I hightly doubt the clerk working minimum wage cares about who gets air and who doesn't.

This is the one I also bought. It works well even when using the 12V cig socket and I just keep it in my trunk.
