Free supercharging

Forgive my ignorance but if I were to purchase a used Model X does the free supercharging follow the vehicle like FSD does?

It entirely depends on the vehicle manufacturer date, where you buy it from (Tesla, Private, Dealership), and the title (clear/lemon/salvage/rebuilt)...
If you're looking at an X that was ordered (by the original owner) before mid January, 2017, it's probably going to transfer.. Anything else after that, more than likely not.
From Tesla's used car site, there were still some 2016 models that had free supercharging, but, they keep removing them.
Through a dealership, it will more than likely get removed.
Anything other than a clear title has the potential for getting it removed.

Lifetime supercharging?

The best bet, if you're looking at a private sale, is to have the owner log in to their Tesla account and check the status of supercharging (it will be listed in the vehicle information page). If you're looking at a dealership, and they have titled it in their name (dealership), it's probably gone, but, in some cases, they know NOT to do that and leave the ownership intact, or, title it into the dealership owner's personal name (if it has free supercharging, so, it stays "private").
