Front and Rear Defroster during remote app climate control

Does anyone know if the front and rear defroster will come on in the winter if you turn on interior heating from the App?

Would love to be able to start melting the snow and ice while still in the house..

Just found this via a search. I started the heat remotely on a "cold" SF Bay Area morning (50f) and when I got to the car, the rear window was 'defrosting' (okay, de-misting) from the wires out. So I'm guessing the car automagically decided to run the rear window defroster? I didn't do anything manually other than trigger the climate control with the fan button.
