Front bumper damaged

I was driving on the freeway and something came flying out of nowhere and hit the front bumper. It cracked the bumper,chipped some paint and broke the driver side fog light.
My question is, who do I contact first? Tesla SC or my insurance?

I'm using my insurance. Most likely it will cost over 1500. I have a 500 deductable.

Insurance first. Go get at least 2 estimates from the BEST shops in your area and go from there. No one at fault. You “may” experience an increase in your insurance rate, pending your number of claims in the past (?). Good luck!

To repaint my bumper, a body shop is charging $1200 (pearl white). Came with a blem from the factory and they had put touch up on it.

My bumper will have to be replaced as it broke. I will put up a pic later on today

wow that was some debris that your car was impacted by. Read up on TeslaCam/Sentry mode and pick up a decent capacity USB drive at least in the meantime. Could save you some money down the road.

So if you hit something that is in motion, such as a tire tread kicked up from a truck or a moving animal, you are covered under comprehensive which usually has a lower deductible than collision. If you hit something stationary, such as that same tire tread, but it is not moving, then it is covered under collision since you are supposed to avoid non moving objects. So be sure you mention 'in motion', etc. to your insurance company if that's what happened.

You might consider a prepainted bumper from Tesla. Parts are reasonably priced IMO. My rear bumper, unpainted was $350. I think I read here somewhere that painted front bumper is $900, but not positive.

Has anyone used those bumper docs
We scraped front left bumper. My daughter did same in her Tacoma, and for a couple of hundred, they came to my house, repaired and repainted, looked new. I’m afraid they won’t be able to blend pearl white.
