Front bumper needs a paint job

When you get your estimates, please pass them on. Always good to know.
For this job, I already have 3 estimates.

1-1300 CAD. Labor is 85$ an hour. For some buffing on the rear bumper, they quoted me about 200 cad. This is in addition to the front bumper.

2-700 CAD. No details, it was an oral quote.

3-400CAD. Written quote, labor is 48$ an hour.

The 1st one was Tesla approved shop. I really think it was too much.
When I saw about 200$ for a buffing job for a few scratches !!!!!

FWIW- Unless they remove the bumper to paint and cure at elevated temperature (which they won't because they usually want to "blend" the re-paint with the adjacent panels AND most body shops don't have this capability) then the front bumper will not have the same hardness and durability as the original paint. Lower temperature cure = softer. The front bumper receives the brunt of the debris impact while driving (ie sand, rocks, etc).

My point is:
  • I personally would never repaint my front bumper for small cosmetic reasons.... It will be worse after XX years than before you touched it.
  • If I *HAD* to repaint my front bumper, I would have PPF applied after the repaint 30 day or so cure to try and mitigate what I've mentioned above
My advice is free (and arguably worthless) do what you want to.
