front usb slots and using splitters

I have the nomad tesla model 3 wireless phone charger

it comes with a usb splitter for each usb slot

on one splitter i have a flashdrive for my teslacam

i tried to add another flash drive to the other usb splitter for music, but it would not read. however, if i plug in my phone to that slot, it does work for charging my phone.

if i remove the splitter on that 2nd usb slot and plug the flashdrive directly into the usb slot, it does then work.

if i use a splitter on both sides, does it only allow for 1 read/write flashdrive?

The splitter is not the same as a hub.... so when you plug a splitter in, one of the leads is JUST power, and the other is power+data. When you use the splitters with the nomad, you have to make sure you plug the nomad into the power-only ones

You will also notice the side of one of the legs of that splitter, the thicker side had the Data line, just switch the flash card to the thick side and the Witeless Charger side the thinner side of the splitter.
