Frunk stuck

When I open the frunk on my Model 3 it comes up a couple of inches and get caught on something. It is like a hood latch. I sent an email to service, but no response. Any ideas here?

This happens with the S as well. I complained to the service center, they always lie and say that they can't reproduce it, and then it's magically fixed.

The frunk has two latches for safety. The second one must not be releasing properly.

This has happened to me multiple times before. Can you sorta slip your fingers beneath the hood? If so, try this:

1. Keep your fingers ready to pull up the hood.
2. Use your other hand to open the frunk using the app.
3. Start pulling up gently right before you hear the popping sound.

If successful, your frunk should now be open. If not, it takes a few tries. This happens to me when I accidentally stuff it up too much during trips.

Schedule mobile service or a shop visit and they will come out and replace both latches. It’s a common issue in early 3s including my own.

Having the same issue with my Model 3. Had mobile service come out to fix it, but they were unable to do so without lifting the car. I had to schedule a service center appointment to complete the fix.

Does the 3 not have a manual release button on the 2nd latch like the S does?

I had the frunk latch replaced 6 weeks ago. Was having issues opening it for about a week before it failed completely.

No, it doesn't.
I went through this with my first Model 3 and they had to replace the frunk latch.

I wonder if they are regretting that design decision. I never bother making them fix my S frunk because I can just push the button, and it's no big deal; no different than opening a hood on any other car.
