Frustrated With My P85 Order .... Arggg

...on the flip side, just wait until you need to get a loaner when your car is in for service. The service managers complain that they cannot keep loaners in stock since they are being sold out from under them as fast as they arrive from the factory. I brought my S into Fremont this morning for service at 0800. They had just one loaner, which I managed to snag. The other one he had got sold yesterday. He is having to placate unhappy Model S owners.

I agree that patience has it's virtues, etc... and that likely the OP will be delighted once it arrives.

But the antagonistic comments followed by "Hey, I had to wait XXX months!". I don't get.

Yes, you placed your order early. You made that choice based on the best information you had at the time. If you were given INCORRECT information or commitments missed, you had the right to be frustrated.

In this case the OP was given INCORRECT information and commitments were missed. In addition to that, he said it was "almost" the car he really wanted, so he may have conceded on a feature or two in order to reduce wait time. Now that concession may be moot. In addition he's out additional cash for a rental.

Give the guy a break... having a provider "drop the ball" can be a frustrating experience...

Agreed. Lighten up, (some of you) people. Someone else waiting months or years (patiently or impatiently) doesn't mean people who have to wait an extra week or a few weeks or even one day can't be frustrated, too. It doesn't invalidate their frustration, just because other people walked uphill both ways in the snow to get their Model S. ;-)

Anyway, welcome to the club, Jeremy, and I hope your car shows up soon. :-D YOu will love it,

On 7/3 finally made the commitment and purchased one of the inventory vehicles Tesla had. The had an inventory vehicle that was almost exactly what I wanted in Ohio. (I live in Miami) Was told the car would be shipped and ready for pickup in 1-2 weeks at the most. I figured this would be the best route to get a Model S quickly rather than waiting the 4 weeks. I had already put a reservation in and was told the wait was an additional 4 weeks on it.

After the first week I was told by my rep that delivery was delayed it would be here for sure the following week. Today I called to follow up, was promised by my sales rep the car would be here this week. (Now going into the 3rd week).

Delivery specialist called me a few hours later to tell my the car is was never picked up from Ohio and they are going to pick it up on Thur. "Someone dropped the ball" . This leaves me very frustrated, I could have ordered the exact car I wanted and now it would have been only 1 additional week from when I will eventually receive my stocked vehicle. In addition I have to continue to rent a car until it arrives.

argggggg .......

I don't know if Tesla will pay for it, but Fed Ex can have it in Florida from Ohio in a few days. Google up fed ex custom critical delivery and fed ex white glove delivery for vehicles. I'm not even going to speculate about the cost.

ETA: Never mind, they don't do it anymore, apparently since 2010. Sorry.

you really want something as expensive as a Model S to be rushed? i would rather they take their time, go through the check lists, and make sure everything is 110% upon delivery.

and yeah, haven't some people been waiting years? i ordered on June 2nd, and the car will be delivered on July 20th, if they needed a longer time to deliver i wouldn't hesitate to give it to them, i was expecting end of the year as the wait time was originally 3 months.

i'm actually taking public transit right now as i sold my old car, and to be honest its quite relaxing, i sit on the train, pull out my tablet and either play games or surf.

Pretty much. As Tesla gets more popular however, the proportion of diehard Tesla/EV enthusiasts goes down - it'll be everyday joes buying teslas pretty soon. And that segment, both buyer and forum reader, doesn't just accept everything tesla does like we do. :D

yeah hopefully we all don't turn into rabid apple fanboys foaming at the mouth.

EDIT: Stupid auto correct

I understand the agony of waiting for the final few days to delivery. I waited for almost 3 years but the final 10 days were excruciating! However, know that it is so much sweeter when you lay hands on it. 7 months of owning the car and I still love driving it. Hang in there!!
