What is the last 6 of the vin. (Build number)

It's in the 18xxx vin range, one of the last built with AP1. I have not had any quality issues with the X.

Id like another X but I'd like to know if this was the same car I looked at a TESLA in NY. Tesla said the car was perfect and I flew up and looked at a brand new red X75 with the exact same options as this one with the vin ending in 18105. It was hit hard in the back during delivery and had $13,500 worth of body work done by a body shop that wasn't very good. Tesla paid the body shop direct and only after repeated requests Tesla finally admitted to the damages and finally showed me a receipt of repairs. I took a picture of the work order but it never appeared on the carfax as insurance didnt pay and Carfax gets data from police reports and insurance payments. I remember there was a still a small spot on the passenger rear quarter panel on the body line, that is the only panel not shown clearly in the pictures of this car. Tesla had it fixed but didn't disclose the damage until I inspected the car and started finding indications of the repairs. I flew up to pick up the car after Tesla said the car never had any bodywork. They also refused to reimburse my flight expenses back and forth and left me sitting in the showroom without even offering to give me a lift back to the airport (The X was supposed to be my ride home) All this even after they were caught red handed lying about the car never being damaged. It was heavily discounted but I wouldn't buy it but someone else did and is may be regretting it by now. Was this the car that was wrecked?

I take it that the discounted price was not a clue ?

Where have you been? Tesla discounts ever inventory car. A discount on a brand new car should never mean it was a severely damaged car, in fact I would reason that an extremely small number, if any, inventory cars have had the amount of damage that VIN# 18105 had. That being said I would not expect any reputable business or individual to flat out lie when asked a direct question about whether a new car has had damage. At a minimum after Tesla was caught lying they should have reimbursed my expense of flying round trip based on that lie they told. Luckily I was able to stop the auto debit I made the day before and my bank refunded the payment to my account. Hopefully others don't make the same mistake I made by taking Tesla at their word. l was fortunate that I have been in the auto business my whole life and was able to find the concealed damage or else I would have been stuck with a potential lemon in waiting. I could see an unscrupulous used car dealer trying to conceal something but Tesla, come on! They sunk below a very low level and never made good on their deception. If a similar dollar amount of damage was done on a normal priced car it would be a total loss. A traditional US auto manufacturer wouldn't retail a normal priced car that was severely damaged, they often donate damaged cars like this to trade schools. That being said I just would like to know if this is that same car back on the market, if it is not that car it should be a cheap entry point into a model X since the MSRP wasn't too expensive plus the $7500 tax incentive has been collected.

Ah, so the car you mentioned was discounted the same amount as usual for new inventory cars ?
Yes, similar discount to others and less discount than higher priced S's and X's. It was priced good enough to fly up and drive it back, plus it would have been my first Tesla and I looked at it as an adventure in Supercharging and AP. They assured me that they were able to discount the car based on the few miles it had. They actually said after I repeatedly told them I wouldn't buy a damaged car, that this car had a very small scratch on the rear bumper during shipping and Tesla had installed a brand new bumper. I asked them again "did they repair the bumper" and they replied no Tesla doesn't fool around they replaced it. I was surprised by the waste of replacing for minor damage but impressed that they replaced the bumper for only a scratch, if only I knew the extent of the deception. It had so much more damage than just the bumper. Even the tops of the Falcon doors had been painted, hatch looked good but that was new not repaired. Don't get me wrong the car looked great and you could walk by and never notice the repair. But when I started looking at the different amounts of orange peal, dry clear coat under the edges of trim, looking behind panels and under the car, it was hit hard in the back.

I'm not familiar with NY laws, but NJ law requires dealers to disclose significant damage. I'm pretty sure there's a document that needs to be signed by the customer saying they've been informed, but not positive. That sucks that they gave you such a runaround.

My car isn't the same one you saw. I'd say come take a look at it, but I definitely can't offer you airfare here or back if for some reason you don't like it.

That's fine I just wanted the last of the vin to know it wasn't the damaged one. Has yours had damage? Is there a reason you can't give the last six of the vin? I wouldn't expect compensation on a used car but from Tesla on a new car claimed to be perfect, that's a different story. They do have to disclose damage on a new car but it's based on a percent of value vs amount of damage, therefore the more expensive the car it can have more damage and not have to be disclosed. In this case they were required to have disclosed the damage but failed to. Very shady business practice on Teslas part.

The same reason I prefer not to give out my email address, phone number, or exact location in this post; and the same reason I didn't add the full VIN assignment to the Model S purchase tracker; I value my information. I don't expect someone to purchase my car sight unseen, nor would I feel comfortable about completing such a transaction, so they're more than welcome to inspect the car and confirm the VIN when they come see it.
