I ended up buying this from the OP, who was very communicative and helpful answering questions and sending lots of pics. I just have to wait for it to be shipped here from Hong Kong.

The Escort 9500ci he posted is actually the Belltronics STiR+ version of essentially the same unit. What's funny here is that I have an STiR+ and laser shifters already installed in my P85D, and I love it-- what a great stealth radar+laser unit.

So, this package deal was great for me because my wife and I just bought a BMW X6M as a winter/hauler vehicle (yes, an ICE car, we had our reasons, don't shoot me!!) and instead of installing my old V1 detector in that car, I'll install this new STiR+. I'll remove the laser shifters from my P85D and add them to the BMW. Then I'll install the ALP into the P85D.

So I get state-of-the-art laser coverage in my Tesla, and a great stealth radar+(older)laser set up in the BMW. I've been wanting to upgrade to ALP for years, but it was always pretty expensive.

can someone help me understand the role of the AL? I tried to read up on it, but all I get is that is a parking sensor suite. Pretty sure that is code for something more
Radar and Laser detection? Does it jam as well?

The ALP is good and a good deal on that alone. But...

The Stir+ is junk these days. If you can live without K band it’s ok. If you need K band it will constantly chatter at blind spot monitors.

I sold my Stir+ 5 years ago (and it was junk back then).

I swapped to a V1 (Gen1) with Bluetooth back then and recently switched to a V1 (Gen2). Both running the V1Driver app.

My STiR+ still works great detecting K and Ka radar with very little falsing.
It's Ka detection is still awesome, and has saved me countless times.
The laser detector has also definitely saved my ass many times (looking for video now).

It's a laser-only detector/shifter. It's not a jammer, as jammers are illegal in all 50 states. Shifters take the incoming laser signal and reflects it back in a scrambled manner.
The head units say "parking sensor" because it's plausible deniability if a cop is snooping around your car, as they can function as "parking sensors".

The ALP (AntiLaser Priority) system typically gets the highest marks for laser protection. see:

I've just been reading up on this.. I think I'm going to get the Net Radar DSP antenna to install along with the ALP and the existing STiR+.

This way I can turn off the K band on the STiR+ if I get BSM falsing problems (which I haven't really experienced yet).
