FSD now with Autopilot Summon

Today the ordering page for all Tesla's (3, S and X) includes the following quote when ordering Full Self-Driving Capability.

"Summon: your parked car will come find you anywhere in a parking lot. Really."

This is in the section explaining things available NOW, not coming later. Has anyone tried this? It must be coming very soon in an upcoming firmware update.

I wonder if it requires the hardware 3.0 upgrade and if it is being installed in cars now?

This is exciting news and can't wait to try it out.

The idea is that FSD will work with AP2 2.5, not 3. Whether that happens or not, remains to be seen.

Nonsense.

The existing features work on 2.5 because they're the ones that already worked in EAP- which we know didn't require HW3.

But all those "coming later this year" features will be dependent on having HW3 installed.

If you buy FSD you get the HW3 upgrade free of course- so there'd be 0 reason anybody would even "need" them to run on 2.5- which again Elon already told us they can't do.

He didn't say that recently. In fact, he said the opposite during the podcast. He said he thinks he could get FSD on the Nvidia hardware, which is 2.5, but its much easier to get it on 3.0. He says that pretty clearly during the podcast.

So while he may not ever work on getting FSD on 2.5, he says it's possible. But also, the Model 3 was billed with having the hardware capable of FSD capabilities, which if it REQUIRES HW3, is a lie.

... which is not, at all, saying FSD (the new stuff) will ever exist on 2.5.

So once again you seem to be taking something he actually said, and pretending it says something he never said- and that imaginary something happens to contradict something else he actually said

So while he may not ever work on getting FSD on 2.5, he says it's possible.

It's possible lead will spontaneously transmute into gold too- but if you go by what has been factually stated it's that FSD (as understood at the time- that is, the new features) will require HW3.

But in case you're still unclear, here's what Elon said today

Elon Musk said:
Everyone who bought Enhanced Autopilot will get Navigate on Autopilot on highways, advanced summon & autopark

Note the "on highways"

He's making it clear all the "existing" 2.x features moved under the FSD column will continue to exist for those guys.

But not any of the new ones.

Because that requires HW3, which you only get on existing cars if you paid for FSD

But also, the Model 3 was billed with having the hardware capable of FSD capabilities, which if it REQUIRES HW3, is a lie.

Sensor suite isn't changing in HW3. And the free processor swap is included with the FSD purchase.

Elon Musk said:
~6 months before it is in all new production cars. No change to sensors. This is simple replacement of the Autopilot computer. Will be done free of charge for those who ordered full self-driving.

So FSD customers who paid for the feature get the feature at no additional outlay.
