Maybe it's because I live in a major metropolitan area. But my full self-driving is very very good. It turns well, stops at the proper times, it's probably only made two or three minor mistakes in about a thousand miles of FSD. Sometimes it won't see traffic stopping on the highway in the distance but that's obviously more of an NOA thing and comfort (avoid brakes), so I'll just go ahead and start backing down the speed using the steering wheel to help it and then it's fine.
Okay yes I haven't tried to use it in the middle of a high congestion city like the middle of Atlanta or Miami rush hour or something, I mean at that point the system is too conservative to really be able to effectively operate properly, and I have no issue with that. But like I said I live in a major metropolitan area so it deals with plenty of traffic.
And let's be clear I'm a pretty tough grader, I know quite a bit about mechanical engineering and computers. I wonder if maybe it's because I have a 2023 Model 3 and the new cameras are making a big difference, That's the only thing I could think of.
I always keep my hands on the wheel and I'm ready, but if I let it, the car can take me door to door where I want to be, The only thing is it's a little bit conservative sometimes, and it's lane choices and execution time on the highway isn't great (again NOA stack)
Software 2022.40.30.5 which is the first and only FSD software I've used. Also I'm not deep on the Tesla train, I got the car because I'm interested in technology and because I'm commuting 60 miles a day. I have plenty of criticism for the car and the brand, but what I've seen on here is completely different from my experience. The software is 85% there, A little better recognition of things (special Lane markings, decision planning in advance) and probably new cameras for intersection identification, and then to gain some confidence in the decision making to make the car a little less timid and we'll have full self-driving.
Can't comment on bad conditions though I haven't really driven it in heavy rain or snow yet.
