FSD + tax?

I see that they charge $3000 for now to upgrade from EAD to FSD even it says + tax. I remember in the past I'd look and see tax being added.
For those who bought a software upgrade did you pay tax? And which state are you from?

The tax is like a scam on top of a scam

It's not considered software, it's a piece of the car. This is similar to some ICE upgrades where things are there, they just have to be enabled.

You will pay tax if you order it with your car, but taxability of adding it aftermarket may depend on where you live.
