Fun day at the drag strip...

I have a 2018 M3P that I took to the drag strip back in May 2019, then again this weekend. I was curious to see what impact time, miles (15k), updates, and switching from summer to all-season tires might have on the times. Far from scientific controls as the temperature was in the 40's last year and 60's this year but fun regardless.

Best 2 passes in 2019:
  • 11.880 @ 112.61, 1.795 60ft
  • 11.885 @ 112.71, 1.804 60ft
Best 2 passes in 2020:
  • 11.640 @ 114.91, 1.822 60ft
  • 11.658 @ 116.67, 1.818 60ft
Note that I'm 6'4 275lbs...a normal size driver might shave off a tenth or two. :) By the way...I did run a pass in CHILL mode and posted a 15.912 @ 90.59, 2.76 60ft. (Beat the noisy Honda in the lane next to me).

Michelin 20" OEM in 2019, Michelin 20" All Season in 2020. Reaction times were .172 and .140 for 2020 (similar in 2019).

This is awesome stuff. Tossed between the next Tesla to be the P3 or the PS. The 3 appears to be more fun to drive and not really bad on 1/4 mile runs.
Now if I can just get my wife Karen to allow running her Model X 100D one time. ok, maybe twice or three....

There are not many cars out there today that you can drive off the dealer lot and run a mid 11 sec quarter mile on street tires. The ones that CAN do it are generally priced well above $100k and they're not 4 door sedans with a usable trunk. The 3P is a bargain for folks that need daily driver features and crave super car acceleration.

Best,

One quick note: The May 2019 runs were before the Fall 19 power update.

Regardless, those times for a “regular” car are ridiculous.
