Rather than collect solar energy at 100 Watts per square meter from a source 93 million miles away for a few hours per day; does it not make more sense to collect energy with small high power density photovoltaic collector from a local energy source that is available 24 hours a day? Apparently, this is possible.

The validations were performed by multiple, independent, qualified professionals with PhDs in Engineering and Physics, including a fortune 500 corporate team. The test instruments, and calibration were appropriate. The results warranted funding, which was provided. I cannot post a link, so for more details, google BrilliantLightPower Validation-Reports.

Their commercialization schedule of 2017 is optimistic, since significant engineering issues remain creating a device that can handle the energy density with acceptable reliability. The good news is, the process generates energy, and they have development funding. Hopefully they can ship by 2018.
