FWD sensor thinks there is an obstacle (when parked I the sun)

Hi,

So I have a 2017 model X. And whenever the passage sur side FWD is hot (usually parked in the sun), the sensor shows that there is a obstacle that prevents the door from opening (I can see the red bar on the mcu screen) and, well doesn’t open fully ( as it should if there was an obstacle).

I suspect the sensor is has moved or is on the Fritz. Anyone has experience with this ? I’ll ask Tesla, but I’d rather have an educated opinion first.

Many here have experienced your problem. (Not me)

Some had the problem to different degrees dependent
upon the color of the car.

The final resolution was some sort of "butyl patch"
to attach the sensor.
The problem was solved...

Got more info because both of my doors will do this depending on which is facing the sun.

Any data on what color vehicle is less problematic?

Someone on a thread mentioned darker colors, but then I read another thread where someone had all the same issues with a silver car so it seems irrelevant.

SC claims that some of the older sensors used to bounce signals off of the heat waves generated by darker cars. They have replaced all of my sensors and I still get this sometimes so ymmv.
