Garage door opener (Tesla Model 3)

My problem is Model 3 can’t distinguish between open and close. If park outside of garage door and garage door is closed, when I drive away the garage door will be opened. This is not good , so I turned it off.

Is the garage door visible when Homelink triggers the signal? If you want the door open and you pull up seeing it is open already, hit "skip," if closed, Homelink will open the door. I am not following the issue.

I only have Homelink open the door automatically. I close it myself just to be safe. And I can catch the garage door if it decides to reverse and head back up.

Edit: I close it manually using Homelink in the car.

Not sure what the problem is here. Homelink can’t get door status. It’s not a car problem at all.
However the OP was about getting the door to open at the correct range. Which means programming the door from outside the garage - or using reset to reset the car location.
