Installation manuals are not widely available, apologies I cannot share one.

The Eaton internal panels will take quad 30/30 breakers so a total of 6 2 pole breakers can land in the subpanel, assuming they are 30A max.

I believe up to 50/40 are available and maybe 50/50

CAUTION: My approved plans calls for a powerwall gateway 2, the Tesla energy installed a powerwall gateway (gen1) without telling me on Monday. Validate your install very very carefully... I'm trying to get Tesla to honor their submitted and approved plans. I'll update this thread as to the progress.

We just touched base on our project this afternoon. They are waiting for our city to send them the last approved permit on our 3rd PW addition (told by city it had to be regular mailed to them and received before they can begin work, but everything is approved). Once they receive the final permit from our city they will be able to schedule us. We asked whether they would be installing a GW2 since we understood people were starting to get them installed in our area as of today and was told yes, it was noted already on our account. Said they had about 99% of the orders updated.

Awesome glad to hear you get the latest greatest!

Also glad to hear the 3rd didn't trigger any significant concern. Nobody except Santa Clara Fire seems to really be concerned enough to change codes mid cycle.

thanks! I guess there was something good to come out of the covid situation although we were anxious to get hooked up months ago. We are getting a little back what with the lowered panel pricing adjustment and read on here that now PG&E won’t require us to have a NGOM after upgrading our order to 3 PWs. So the delay will work out in our favor.

If your PV system is about 10,000 CEC-AC watts then no NGOM is required for 3 powerwalls.
4 Powerwalls requires 13,333 CEC-AC watts and likewise 16,666 watts for 5 Powerwalls

In August I hear that goes away as well for all systems up to 9 Powerwalls per Gateway.

So some big changes happening on the residential front for all of this. We btw are a medium 315 panel solar system and told we’ll have one inverter for it.

Thanks for keeping us informed. Is Santa Clara Fire still going forward with the retroactive code changes?

Yes, we are jumping through the hoops and telling customers going forward that we strongly prefer the PW outside in those jurisdictions. Until the fire testing is performed again to SCC Fire satisfaction per the updated UL standard, this will be our recommendation.
