Gen 2 travel charger is warm

Hello,

I recently purchased a used 2016 Model X 90D. I use the travel charger plugged into a 240v 50A outlet. It charges at around 21 miles per hour of charge which is adequate at home. I leave the chargerCable plugged into the wall while not in use. My question is: it’s warm. About 110 degrees F. Is that normal, and is that ok?

Sounds like 30A/240V if you’re getting 21mi/hr per 340wh rated.

Temp seems normal.

Ambient+ 5-10F is normal in my experience..

How hot is your garage?

Garage is hot. Probably 90 degrees

Sounds like just a measuring error. The "thermal conductivity" of the plastic is higher than the air, hence it feels warmer. Also it will take time to fully cool off.

Get one of these infrared thermometers - they are useful in general.
