Getting a bit cheesed off with software glitches

I genuinely like my M3LR but lately I'm getting really cheesed off with all the software glitches. In the last week I've had:-

-Cruise control refused to work for an entire 50 mile journey.
-Mobile phone wouldn't connect until I did the 2 button reset.
-Mobile phone wouldn't hang up after a call until I did the 2 button reset.
-Spotify refused to connect one day.
-70 mph speed limits seem to have disappeared on the motorway.

I've had my car 20 months and have driven 50k miles so I spend a lot of time in my car. Initially the software was rock solid but seems to be deteriorating as they update it. I really don't care that it can flash it's lights and play a tune I just want the basics to be dependable.

Ami I being pedantic or have any other owners noticed more problems recently?
Most of our friends here think that you own the best car in the world despite all the bugs and your disappointment and inconvenience. It's very hard to be Tesla fan.
Friends, he ask how to solve his issue !

Carplay or android auto would be a pain in the arse, because they wouldn't be hooked in the range calculations etc. My wife has an ID3, which is utter crap btw, with android auto but I still have to use the in build crap maps for long drives.
In three months I haven’t used the range calculation once. But it would be no bother to set the destination on the crap nav, remember where the SC stop is and then go into CarPlay for everything else, occasionally flicking back to check the built in nav.

There is more than that, it's not integrated with battery precondition etc. Travelling over the a66 as much as I do it's actually very useful to know it more accurately.
Honestly I don't think carplay/android auto would be used as much as many are making out.

I think there's a lot of rose-tinted vision about the software in legacy cars. I sold a 9 year old Golf GTI to buy my model Y, and I occasionally drive an XC90 that's < 2 years old. The software in the XC90 is more advanced than it was in the Golf, but not by that much. The sat nav is crap, makes dumb choices, map data updates once in a blue moon and the UI doesn't respond quickly or in an intuitive way, and obviously the overall software package is basically navigation, car settings and nothing else. Legacy car makers are very comfortable in their rut and without Tesla putting pressure on them a car in 2030 would still be ICE with a clunky screen like a smartphone from 2015.

In comparison I look at the release notes for Tesla and I can't believe the number of features that have been added during 2022. I do get the irritation from the bugs (had my first experience with wipers that auto activate as you drive under every street light the other night) and it'd be nice if that didn't happen. I will be reading release notes and checking others' experiences online before I accept any software updates, but overall I'd much rather have it this way than the legacy way.

But what’s stops us setting the destination in the Tesla nav so the preconditioning still takes place?

Legacy manufacturers is a convenient label as if there is something universally bad about all of them.

The Volvo system is notoriously poor. As for maps being out of date - well that’s not the case with waze, Apple Maps or Google maps through CarPlay.

The rose-tinted vision is from Tesla fanboys who refuse to see that other manufacturers are pushing things on and already do many things better. There’s plenty of opportunity for Tesla to improve, but I’m not yet getting the feeling that they will.

ETA - what are the unbelievable features added in 2022? I’ve only had my car three months but there hasn’t been anything much added in that time apart from an improved energy app.

Well, I didn't actually say the features were unbelievable, I said the number is unbelievable. The features themselves range from relatively mundane to fairly substantial. If you're too lazy to look it up, here they are:

And for comparison, here's a complete list of retrospectively added features that my VW acquired in the 9 years I had it:
Oh I see, just code and bug fixes for existing features in the main. The OTA updates in my Land Rover were similar. Nothing to be excited about, sorry.

I noticed everyone got excited on here by one of the recent updates that added alternate route options,2022.36.15 above. functionality I’d had in the legacy manufacturer car for over 3 years…

Ok, if you like. I mean I just looked up the release notes for Landrover software and I’d say the changes were less numerous and ambitious but whatever.

Look, if you’ve decided to buy / retain an expensive car with significant resale value even though it makes you angry enough to post on the internet about it then your problems may be more wetware than software.

Well I think today has finally finished me off.
Opened the app this morning 8am to find 2022.44.2 installing, it didn’t ask if I wanted to install it. It’s now 4pm and it’s going at a snail’s pace and up to 43%
I called Tesla explained the situation and that I really needed to get into and use my car. Very pleasant young lady took my VIN and said she would refresh it and call me back in 30mins to see if it went quicker. She did call back and as it didn’t go quicker put me on hold whilst she spoke to “the advanced team” They apparently said they couldn’t make it go quicker but noted that I only had 2 bars of Wi-Fi, could I move the car nearer to the Wi-Fi? I told her the car was connected to the charger in its usual place and questioned whether I would be able to open the car. Ah maybe not she replied and it might break a window if you tried🙄
So I’ve ordered a taxi to get to a hospital appointment and then when Tesla finally let me into my 50k car I’ll be off down the Kia garage.

Carplay or android auto would be a pain in the arse, because they wouldn't be hooked in the range calculations etc. My wife has an ID3, which is utter crap btw, with android auto but I still have to use the in build crap maps for long drives.
99% of my drives are local where I’m not too bothered about range calculations or superchargers. Would much rather have Waze running on CarPlay alerting me about traffic and speed cameras

That’s shocking. Honestly, the tech in these cars is an embarrassment and years behind the competition. I’m sorry you’ve had real world experience of just how inconvenient that can be.

If bugs get under your skin, change your software update schedule from Advanced to Standard. Having it set on Advanced means you’re going to get earlier software releases that often have bugs. Having it set on Standard means you’ll get less frequent, but more thoroughly vetted software updates.

Thanks for that I just checked and it was on advanced, it won’t be anymore. Probably dates back to when updates were less frequent and more stable.

I have a glitch on my M3P where after a minute or two my radio/Spotify mutes and then the phone bit (bottom right of screen) pops up like I’m on a call. Then the only way to get it to sort itself out is by calling someone and then disconnecting the call. Incredibly irritating. Had the issue for like 2 months. Model 3 is going back in 2 weeks though as I’ve a MYP now and so far it’s not happened with my new car.
